From HELL BOUND
Asta Idonea

Asmodeus glanced up when he heard the approaching footfall. That familiar tread, first assured then hesitant, brought a gleeful smile to his lips. But he schooled his features into an expression of nonchalance before the faint knock sounded.

“Come.” He allowed himself a moment to appreciate his imperious tone; then he refocused his attention on the leather-bound volume in his hands.

Taharial slipped into the room, accompanied by a blast of Hell-Fire heat from outside. Asmodeus could feel the weight of his gaze, but he chose to let him stew for a moment. He’d discovered a little heightened tension at the start of their interview never failed to add to the enjoyment later on.

“Asmodeus.”

Asmodeus kept his back turned, although the sound of his name, spoken in that small, beseeching voice, gave him goosebumps. “Here again so soon, Taharial? What would your dear brothers say?” He tutted and twisted in his seat.

Taharial looked delectable as he stared at the floor and wrung his hands. The sight of him with shoulders, head, and wings all drooped was one with which Asmodeus was by now well acquainted, yet it ignited a fire within him every time.

“Please, Asmodeus.” Taharial looked up and met his eyes. “I-I need it.”

Asmodeus slipped the feather into the book to mark his place. Then he set the volume aside, stretched his legs, and rose.

cropped-Rainbow-Header copy 3

An enjoyable collection of stories of various lengths, all loosely themed under the banner of BDSM.

There’s a few collars and cuffs involved, but there’s also some wax play, the use of restraints and blindfolds, D/s type relationships, subspace, and safewords scattered among these well-written stories.

FORGED IN STEEL by Layla Dorine 4*

The last thing Flint expected upon discovering a homeless young man rummaging through the dumpster behind his shop was a kindred spirit.

The last thing Trace expected to find in that dumpster was a home.

This story is about the building of trust between two men and the development of a relationship where one is commanded to do things by the other.

PLAYING IT SAFE by Aimee Brissay 4.5*

To safe or not to safe?

That is the question.

This would have been my favourite story in the anthology if it hadn’t ended so abruptly and left open-ended. Most of the story focuses on the interaction between a Dom and the sub of his friend as they play out a scene without the use of a safeword. I felt as if I was in the room with them.

ROOM TO PLAY by Lily Velden 4*

Jack wanted to dabble in some light BDSM, looking for a little role play. A little role-reversal.

Rhys took to their games like a duck to water.

A sizzling recount of a couple’s venture into bondage and domination as they decide whether to commit to a twenty-four seven  D/s relationship or not.

A TOUCH OF KINK by Alina Popescu 4*

A moody and angry Tudor follows his friend, Radu, to the airport to pick up a client.

Despite Radu’s efforts, he’s still sulking over his boyfriend, Kahoni, not being able to fly over for his birthday.

But the airport only opens up the door to a stream of steamy surprises for Tudor. Will his mood improve?

A sweet birthday surprise story involving bondage kink. Great characters in this one.

LET’S DANCE IN SIN by Kassandra Lea 3.5*

Samuel wants to play with his favorite toy and Flynn is only too willing to oblige.

But first, he has a little treat for his delectable angel.

Heavenly pleasures for these angels who meet for a romp.

NEW LOVE, NEW SIGHT by Carol Pedroso 3.5*

Exiled and lonely, Sorl longs for home.

Kidnapped, blind, and scared, Unjarf seeks help of any kind.

When they meet can love bring rescue, hope, and most importantly new sight?

An enjoyable story set in a BDSM club in an alternate universe.

SWITCH by Eddy LeFey 4.5*

Robert is floundering, trying to get his life back together.

Daniel offers to help, to teach Robert what it means to truly let go of control, in order to be able to seize it again.

Life truly is a…. Switch.

I enjoyed the slow build of this story as Robert’s new relationship develops with Daniel and we gradually discover what happened in Robert’s horrendous past. The climax of the story was exciting, but I would have loved to have read at least one D/s based scene between Robert and Daniel.

HELL BOUND by Asta Idonea  4.5*

When Taharial, angel of purity, descends to Hell to reprimand him, lust demon Asmodeus cannot resist having a little fun with his unwanted guest.

However, when he chains Taharial to his bed, events take a turn he didn’t expect.

Great story and excellent writing. Again, this story has more of a faux bondage theme, but I loved the idea of an angel and a demon making out in Hell. I could certainly picture the beautiful tableau of a winged angel riding a demon on his bed. And Asmodeus was such a nice hot demon too!

His Heart Held Hostage

Asta Idonea

“Another hour and we will reach the castle, Prince Darius,” the general said, his sneer morphing into a self-satisfied smile.

Darius hadn’t failed to notice the tone the general used when he spoke the word ‘prince’, as if he would deny Darius his title if he could, but Darius chose not to react. The general’s comment had been a statement, not a question, and it was no breach of etiquette not to respond.

The manacles weighed Darius’ arms down, the iron chafing his wrists. But pride kept him from complaining. That he was chained at all was a disgrace, an insult of the highest degree. He wasn’t supposed to be a prisoner of war but a political hostage, surety that his father would launch no future attack against the kingdom of Hrafnaheim. With the battle lost, Darius’ father, King Javor of Slunícková, had reluctantly relinquished his only son and heir in order to keep his kingdom, and Darius couldn’t blame him for that. Even so, Darius was sure his father had expected his son to be treated with greater care and respect than was currently being shown.

Either Darius’ mind had been more occupied than he’d realized or else he’d drifted off to sleep, because the next thing he knew the carriage was shuddering to a halt, and General Eiríksson grabbed hold of his arm and jerked him from his seat.

Tyler Knoll’s Just for Fun #1 ~ SNARED by A.B. Gayle

SNARED-TKJFF-smallpreview

Release Day Mini Tour – Tyler Knoll’s Just for Fun

SNARED by A.B. Gayle

Series: Tyler Knoll’s Just For Fun

Genre: Satire, humor, gay, gay romance, LGBT

Length: Novella

Publisher: Wayward Ink Publishing

cropped-Rainbow-Header copy 8

Tyler Knoll was born one wild, stormy night in April 2013.

Of course, Tyler might tell you he was born twenty years earlier, but should we believe anything he says? That’s for you to decide.

In Tyler’s first adventure—like many a gay man before him—he was SNARED by gay porn, wallowing in tales of bigger, stronger, harder….

SNARED-justforfun-banner

cropped-Rainbow-Header copy 6

Seeing you’ve read this far, it’s probably time to let you in on a little secret. I’m into all types of porn, but suit porn hovers near the top of the list, hence my reluctance to betray that fact by having a permanent hard-on while checking out their threads. The other reason was because the guys in these immaculate suits all worked on the upper floors of Whoosit & Whatsit.

Now, before you scoff and say there’s no such place, let me assure you that I may not be the brightest bulb in the room, but I’m not stupid enough to divulge the real name of my employers. You might out me to my boss in the mailroom.

The thing is Mrs. Stringer wouldn’t give two hoots if you did. I was just the lowly guy who hand-delivered important contracts to the upper floors for signing. Nothing special. Just a hopeless idiot who barely made it through high school, thanks to his inability to get the middle letters of words in the correct order, and who still can’t see the connection between hippopotamuses, beasts that lurk in mud pools and triangles. Aren’t they swanky orchestral instruments?

And just in case you’re wondering how a dyslexic ignoramus like me can produce such flawless spelling and wonderful prose, it’s called an editor. I’d tell you her name, but then she might show you the original text, and I’d never live down the embarrassment.

Mind you, she wanted me to delete that last statement, saying no editor would ever be so unprofessional, but seeing she didn’t mind me having a go at readers; she’s fair game.

Holy catfish. Now, I’ve lost the plot and we’re not even half way through the first chapter! I better backtrack over what I’ve told you so far: Bar. Check. Friday night. Check. Suits. Check. Weird feeling. Ah that’s right. I felt someone watching me.

You’d think a classy joint like this would have mirrors around the wall to check out who was cruising who without being obvious. No such luck. This was all stained timber and the occasional out of focus painting. More like a swanky gentleman’s club than a bar.

There was that prickle again. I squirmed uncomfortably in my seat.

Want the whole Tyler Knoll’s Just for Fun series? Check out books two, three, and four, to be released on July 10th: SHREDDED, SLASHED, and SCREWED

In Tyler’s first adventure, he was SNARED by gay porn….

Then his fickle mind was seduced and SHREDDED by the prospect of BDSM and slavery.

When a Big Misunderstanding SLASHED at Tyler’s sanity, almost costing him his life, he turned to another genre for his salvation. But even this encounter proved potentially hazardous—not from freezing temperatures, but at the hands of irate fans.

Finally, tired and SCREWED by his all his trials and tribulations, he discovers—like many storybook heroes before him—that sometimes Mr. Right is closer than we think.

Unlike many authors, A.B. Gayle hasn’t been writing stories all her life. Instead she’s been living life.

Her travels have taken her from the fjords of Norway to the southern tip of New Zealand. In between, she’s worked in so many different towns she’s lost count. A.B. has shoveled shit in cow yards, mustered sheep, been polite to customers, traded insults with politicians. Sometimes she needs to be forgiven as she get confused as to who needs what where.

Now living in Sydney, Australia, A.B. finally has time to allow her real life experiences to morph with her fertile imagination in order to create fiction that she hopes her readers will enjoy.

4*

A light-hearted and original novella, with amusing asides taking a dig at the idiosyncrasies of the English language, and the difficult, somewhat ambiguous task of an editor. I found the author’s perspective refreshing and chuckled or rolled my eyes at the various comments Tyler made. A fun read, with hot, sexy scenes, plus a mystery that leaves you wondering what Tyler’s “interview” was all about. Hopefully we’ll find out in Book 2.

4* and 5* Stories

A superb collection of relatively long short stories featuring either a demon or an angel, and in some cases both. As with all anthologies there is a mix of authors and writing styles. Several are beautifully written, but each story was a pleasure to read. All the tales feature a romance-based plot and each ends happily in my opinion. Some are humorous and made me chuckle, some have a heartbreaking storyline and brought tears to my eyes. I loved how each author built up the worlds their characters existed in and made their dilemmas highly plausible. In each case, I felt the anguish as the lovers strove to resolve their issues and worked to achieve a happy ever after.

excerpt

 from my story

Over the Rainbow

At last.

Dorian Gartside let out a huge sigh of relief. He quickly dismissed his boisterous pupils and had logged himself off the computer on the teacher’s desk by the time they’d all noisily exited the room.

God! What a day!

Anyone who thought this job was easy should try teaching Pride and Prejudice to a class of fifteen-year old boys. And damn it, he still had a bloody staff meeting to attend before he got to go home.

Dorian scooped up his teaching notes and a pile of books he hadn’t managed to mark at lunchtime and strode out of the classroom barely missing two boys who ran past him. “Walk in the corridor!” he instructed the rapidly fleeing flash of emerald green uniforms, but to little effect.

Dorian sighed again and looked down at the books in his arms.

Yet another busy night with hardly any rest or relaxation.

He wished he’d believed the person who’d told him his social life would be non-existent during his first year of teaching. Marking, planning, staff meetings, talking to snooty parents, in addition to after-school activities two or three times a week. Bring back college days any time. At least he’d had something he could laughingly call a sex life then.

Thank God it was the October mid-term break next week. Time to draw breath for a few days at least.

Dorian slowed his pace as he passed the adjacent classroom and glanced inside hopefully. His search was rewarded, and catching sight of the object of his desire, his stomach fluttered.

“Hey, Dorian. Have you got a minute before the staff meeting starts?”

Dorian flushed a little and smiled. “Sure.” He glanced appreciatively over his mentor and superior, Mr. Leonard. “I wanted to ask you a few questions about my lesson observation tomorrow too, if you’ve got time.”

Mr. Leonard, Head of the English department, was everything Dorian wished he could be—and not just because of the expert control he had over the pupils. He was tall, broad-shouldered, and most of his exposed skin was covered in thick, dark hair that Dorian spent most nights dreaming about; he often imagined what the hairs would feel like if he ran his hands over Mr. Leonard’s skin and what this hunk of a man looked like naked.

“That’s fine, D. Let’s grab a cuppa and talk on the way.”

Dorian nodded and shifted the books in his arms so most of his suddenly bulging groin was now covered. The very thought of calling Mr. Leonard ‘Sir’ was enough to harden his traitorous cock at the most inopportune moments. He usually thought of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett at times like this, but those thoughts often turned to Mr. Bingley and a very wet-shirted Mr. Darcy, and he was no better off.

Dorian did his best to concentrate on their conversation, focusing on Mr. Leonard’s eyes and lips as they discussed his lesson for class 5B the following day. “And I want you to speak up in the staff meeting today….”

“Yes, Mr. Leonard.”

“Look, Dorian, it’s about time you called me Mark. We’ve been working together for over six weeks now.”

Dorian smiled again, his heavy cock filling when his name fell from the older man’s lips. He’d never liked the name his parents had given him and had to suffer being called everything from Dory to Ryan in his teen years, but hearing Mark say it sent a shiver down his spine every time. “Sure. If that’s okay with you, Mark.”

Mr. Leonard—Mark—paused as they approached the staffroom and huffed. “Of course it is, but not in front of the Munchkins, though.” Dorian chuckled at Mark’s nickname for the pupils.

excerpt

 WARNING: EXPLICIT CONTENT

“THAT’S IT, babe. Look at me.” I raked my fingers through Andreas’s hair and yanked his head back. Still leaning over the sink, he obediently stared at me in the bathroom mirror. Our blue eyes connected, pupils fully dilated with arousal. He loved it when I treated him rough like this. I tilted forward over his back and nipped on Andreas’s ear lobe. “Keep your eyes on mine as I enter you,” I purred, my breath long and moist against his heated skin.

Andreas, as usual, complied. He loved eye contact when we made love. Pulling back slightly, I stroked my cock along his crease, poised and erect, ready to push into him. Lining up with his well-prepared hole, I returned my gaze to his and eased in gently. With each inch, his eyes widened a fraction, his jaw dropped lower, and he gasped louder.

I kissed along his shoulder. “Oh yes, babe. You feel so good.”

His eyes remained fixed on the mirror—on me—as I moved in and out of his warmth. Deep, slow thrusts, accompanied by my slaps to the smooth, pale skin on his ass, resulted in groans from deep within his chest.

“Yes, harder, Chris.”

I obeyed his wish, and made Andreas yelp with pleasure.

He wrapped his hand around his cock and stroked fast. “Gonna come soon!”

Grunting with each forceful push, I gripped his hair tighter, holding his head in place, and squeezed his now pink rump. Two more thrusts and I came hard inside him, moaning. My heart pounded against my ribcage, and waves of heated pleasure ebbed through me.

“Oh my God, I’m coming.” His voiced echoed around the small hotel bathroom.

I grinned. What must the people in the next room be thinking?

Andreas stood upright, his hand moving rapidly over his cock. He shot his load into the sink and squirted over the marble surround. The third and fourth jets sprayed up on the mirror and trickled down.

Despite panting loudly, we managed to giggle. “Oh babe, you’re so hot when you come like that.” I kissed his neck and eased out of him. “And being so noisy too—I love it.”

I dropped the condom into the bin and stepped into the bathtub. “Need to get a move on.” I turned on the shower and soaped myself down.

Andreas wiped the remaining lube off his crack, had a piss, and returned to the bedroom, wiggling his ass at me on his way out. I grinned at the red marks still evident on his naked butt.

I dried myself down with one of the fluffy white towels, and then joined Andreas. Now sporting a pair of shorts, he sat on the balcony with his feet perched on a chair, a book in his lap. I loved him dearly, but he seemed to have his nose in a book twenty-four seven these days. Every time I came home from work or back from one of my sports clubs, he’d be there reading. Either that or engrossed in his decoupage craft, or whatever his latest hobby was.

After dressing in my cycling gear, I packed up my rucksack with the provisions I needed for the day, and then went to join him on the balcony.

“Mmm… looks like it’s going to be another warm day.” I looked out across the hotel pool and gardens, to the mountainside beyond. The sky was clear and blue. Wispy clouds drifted around the snow-covered peaks in the distance. Lush green grass and woods filled the lower slopes near the resort. Cable cars, looking like dots in the distance, moved slowly upward. Summer season in an Alpine resort was my idea of heaven: outdoor physical activity, plenty of fresh air, and hot sex when I returned to the hotel in the evening. Pity Andreas didn’t share my passion—apart from the sex, that is.

Andreas glanced up from his book. “You should have a nice day for exploring.” He returned his gaze to the page, seemingly oblivious to the scenic view in front of us. “Rain is forecast later this evening, but you should miss that.”

A cool breeze blew around the damp hair at the base of my skull. “That’s good. Can you put some sunscreen on the back of my neck, hun? It’s stinging a little today.”

“Mmm… sure. It looks a little red.” Andreas leaned over and grabbed the tube from the patio table. He wiped the moisture from the back of my neck and applied the cream thoroughly.

I turned to face him, and he coated my face, neck, and the skin exposed above the vee of my T-shirt. A sad look crossed his eyes.

I stroked a wayward hair out of his sight. “You’ll be okay on your own?” I felt a little guilty, but he could have come with me if he wanted.

In the distance, cowbells chimed and a motorbike sped past the front of the hotel, spoiling the early morning peace and quiet.

Andreas sighed. “Yeah, I’ll be fine. Got plenty to keep me occupied here all day. I’m used to keeping myself busy anyway.” His voice trailed off on the last sentence.

“I’ll see you later this afternoon, then.” I kissed him swiftly. “Have a good day.”

“Yeah, you too. Make sure you grab some breakfast on your way.” Andreas pulled me in for a hug. “Take care. Love you.”

“Love you too. Later.” I scooped up my rucksack, checked for my phone in my pocket, and marched out of the hotel room without a backward glance.

After retrieving my mountain bike from the hotel’s bike park and buying a meat-filled pastry from the local bakery, I cycled to the cable car station at the edge of Saalbach. Pleased I’d made it before the manic tourist rush, I managed to grab a gondola for myself with plenty of room for the bike.

10559941_549724678465425_3215748469385930314_n

I took out the still-warm pastry from its wrapping and wolfed it down. Most guests would be eating their breakfast in hotel dining rooms throughout the resort, as would Andreas soon—alone. I liked getting out and about early to avoid the crowds. Andreas preferred to take his time and stay in the hotel for most of the day. Sometimes I thought he might be agoraphobic, but then he’d go shopping for our food, and he’d spend time with the people in his craft and book clubs. He wasn’t particularly fond of sports. Our friends always commented on how different we were, personality-wise. Some even called him a wimp and a sissy. I responded with my clichéd science statement of opposites attract to shut them up. Andreas was perfect for me. We got along well, hardly ever argued, and the sex was always hot and steamy. Yum! Just like this morning’s session.

Spending time apart doing our own thing only added to our closeness when we were together. We didn’t get jealous or possessive, and didn’t push our interests down each other’s throats. He was happy doing his own thing while I got on with my adventurous pastimes. I’d never get him to paraglide or canoe, but then I wouldn’t knit or weed the garden.

Andreas was drop-dead gorgeous. People always asked if we were brothers, which I took as a compliment. We had the same dark hair coloring, were of similar height, and I was only more muscular because of all the physical activity I took part in. My sexy Andreas managed to keep in good shape: he was in charge of the food shopping and cooking in our house, and made sure we both ate healthily.

I brushed the greasy pastry crumbs off my T-shirt and grinned, knowing he’d scold me later when I told him what I’d eaten for breakfast.

10330422_537948096309750_3248334737017826529_n

The cable car moved swiftly up the mountainside, giving fabulous views of Austria’s Hinterglemm valley. I turned around and looked back toward the hotel and to the mountains behind, where I’d spent the previous day exploring. I spotted the hut where I’d stopped for lunch—a small speck of brown surrounded by shades of green—and the winding tracks I’d followed on my way down. I wished Andreas could share the fabulous views and enjoy the ride alongside me. I’d take photos from the top for him, but that wouldn’t be the same as experiencing it for himself.

As the gondola approached the highest cable car station, I positioned my bike. As soon as the doors opened, I shot out. I checked the time of the last returning gondola, noting I had over seven hours to explore—plenty of time.

The panoramic view from this height was breathtaking. I wheeled the bike with one hand and stood on the viewing platform, taking photos with my phone. I selected a selfie and sent it in a text to Andreas.

Spectacular views. Wish you were here. Later. Xx

Another absolutely beautiful story! Both Chris and Andreas are such interesting characters! This story was well written and suspenseful. I was on the edge of my seat to see how this came out and really wanted more!

RAINBOW GOLD REVIEWS

pot-of-gold-rgr

I loved this story. It began with Chris and Andreas, who are as different as chalk and cheese. Chris is the sporty outdoor person, and Andreas comes across as someone who is quiet and an introvert, together on holiday. Andreas thought the holiday was so they could spend some time together, but Chris had decided to book himself on excursions and continue his sporty outdoor pursuits, so this meant Andreas was alone in the hotel room every day. This then gave Andreas time to think about his relationship with Chris, and this in turn gave him very grave doubts. Chris just assumed everything in their life was rosy, until something happened to him, that made him take a good long look at his life and how he treated Andreas, and he soon realised he could be in jeopardy of losing Andreas forever…….. do they manage to be honest with each other, and talk things out….. I’m not saying, but what I will say is that this is quite a hot read.

MULTI TASKING MOMMAS – for the STRANDED anthology

This was just a fantastic book from the first short to the last short. I usually don’t give 5 Stars to anthologies on the grounds that I am reading a huge book containing short stories, but this was different.

The best news of this collection was that each one was so well written, I had no cause for complaint.

five-stars

Louise on Amazon

I received an ARC in return for an honest review.

I am a fan of Lily’s writing, her characters are never two dimensional and always manage to pull my in from the start, and what a start this was! The opening scene shows our couple Chris and Andreas enjoying their holiday and each other and I must admit having read several other of her books, this upfront sexing was quite a change in style, but very welcome.

You get the picture very quickly that as the title suggests, these two are polar opposites. Chris likes activities and taking risks, whereas Andreas is much more reserved. It seems like the only thing they have in common is their love for each other. But is that really enough?
I certainly won’t spoil the story for you, but these two get the chance to put their lives and love for each other into perspective and see just how much the other means to them as they tangle with their feelings and emotions

Lily always explores deeper than most with her characters, adding small facets to them that a lot of people wouldn’t take the time to do, but with these, it works

Above all, the love and mutual respect that Andreas and Chris have for each other shines through the pages and gives a well rounded short story with characters you feel yourself wanting to take sides with. Will opposites really attract? Read for yourself and find out.

excerpt

And so they talked about acting. They talked about television. They talked about movie stars of old, and about how many of them you’d see if you watched The Love Boat on DVD.

“I mean, it wasn’t just Ted Knight and Charo on every episode,” Felix said. “I’m talking about Oscar winners. Olivia DeHavilland and Joan Fontaine, for Heaven’s sake! One day you’re in Gone With the Wind, the next you’re playing Captain Stubing’s Great Aunt Fanny? I wish they’d reboot that show. I’d have someplace to go when I’m yesterday’s news. I could find love with the lounge act, surprise them all: Grampa’s still got it!”

Shep laughed. “Maybe you could spearhead a revival. It can’t be that hard. All you need is a stowaway, a jewel thief, and a case of mistaken identity for each episode.”

“Sounds like you know your Love Boat,” Felix said admiringly. “Maybe that can be your Hollywood dream.”

“Okay, you really want to know my Hollywood dream?” Shep asked.

“I do.”

“More champagne, that’s my Hollywood dream.” He signaled their waiter, and just like that, it came true.

They cracked each other up brainstorming through ever-more elaborate Love Boat plots:

“Naturally, her father doesn’t approve because he’s not the right sort….”

“What he doesn’t approve of is how short his shorts are….”

“I see Raven-Symone as the former Broadway star whose agent books her on the cruise but forgets to tell her it’s unpaid.”

“So she has to cocktail to pay her fare, and Isaac falls in love with her.”

“This shit writes itself.”

Eventually they fell quiet, although they continued to gaze, tittering, into each other’s eyes. Felix reached across the table and took Shep’s hand. “I had a great time last night, Sheppy.”

“Me too,” Shep said with a laugh. He’d lost the battle where the sobriquet ‘Sheppy’ was concerned, although it had eventually been made clear to the rest of The Boyz (and Frieda) at the Clarion that it would only be tolerated when it issued from Felix, and then only with an unwavering eye roll.

“I think I might kinda like you.”

“Forget The New Love Boat,” Shep said. “Your true calling is obviously epic love poetry. Or at least romantic greeting cards.”

“Don’t mock me when I’ve had mimosas.”

My 5* Review:

five-stars

Another fabulous collection of well-written 4 and 5* stories from Wayward Ink Publishing, all of which suspend reality and take you on a magical journey into the realms of fantasy.

Who else hasn’t wished for time travel to put right a past event or the chance to meet a heartthrob film star in real life? I would definitely love to fly on Chimera Air, and not just because of the hot gay men serving me!

In the anthology, you meet a modern day surfing Jonah who finds his love inside a whale, a rib-tickling sex therapist who helps an inhibited couple finally get to know each other. There are tales of love and lust, along with a few surprises, plus a hilarious and surprising believable mpreg story.

From bizarre to hot and steamy, from magical to downright unbelievable, from comedy to tearjerkers, this anthology has you laughing and crying.

As you read, you truly want many of these stories to be true, but if someone recounted these yarns, you would no doubt utter, “Oh yes, that’s a likely story!”

DAVID

IT’S the small hours of the morning when I walk through the door of our home. The savory smells of lasagna hitting my senses make me close my eyes in delight. Ahhh, beautiful. Just the thought of beef, tomato, cheese and herbs caressing my pallet has me salivating, and my stomach rumbling. Sean sure knows how to look after me. He’s beyond wonderful.

A tidy apartment and a scrumptious meal are superb to come home to, especially after a hard day in the ER, where I’m surrounded by blood, tears and anguish. My feet hardly touched the ground, from the beginning of my shift until the end. My team and I dealt with everything from a saucepan stuck on a boy’s head, to a multiple pile-up, where the rider of a motorcycle caught the worst of it. He sustained two broken legs, a broken arm and a dislocated shoulder. Thankfully, he was wearing all the correct safety gear, which saved his life and held him together. He’ll have a long road to recovery, but at least he will recover. In the future, however, he’ll set off all airport alarms as he passes through security, with the amount of metal now inside him.

Eating my meal, I settle in to unwind.

The next thing I know, I’m shuddering with cold. Dammit, I’ve fallen asleep on the couch again. There’s no blanket in sight. Oh dear, Sean must be pissed at me. I know he doesn’t like it, and if I could catch myself drifting off, I’d move to bed. Except, I couldn’t, and I didn’t.

Looking at the time, I realize it won’t be long before he’ll be up for work. Walking into the kitchen, I flick the switch of the amber nectar machine, ready to wake him with coffee and a cuddle—albeit a belated one.

With drink in hand, I walk into our bedroom. The bed is empty.

Sleepwalking

Sleepwalking cover

Synopsis

Devastated by loss, Matthew sleepwalks through life, existing but not living.

Can someone rescue him from his waking nightmare and help him to live again?

Inspiration behind Sleepwalking

I don’t tend to wait for a call for an anthology before I write a short story. As with many writers the idea for a tale can spring from anywhere at any time. In this case it was when I purchased Adam Lamberts CD For Your Entertainment. There’s a track on it called Sleepwalker, and from the very first line of the song, the story Sleepwalking was born.

I saw a picture of you hanging in an empty hallway.

That line alone created images in my head which lead to a 9k story. It seemed so sad to me that the person in the song seemed to be alone. The imagery made me think about how I’d feel if I lost my husband.

Would I stay in a world of familiarity, visiting old haunts and not move on?

Would I be capable of moving on?

Is there a set, or acceptable time to grieve?

What would happen if I found someone else?

The pictures just wouldn’t go away, and I ended up writing down little snippets of scenes that entered my head as I was about to sleep. The list became quite long which left me little choice, but to write the whole story.

Then I had to find a setting for my story – the most common of which is an office. And although there are plenty of circumstances in which a person can lose a partner, I decided upon law enforcement. The reason being was that they tend to have walls for the fallen, which coincided with the picture in the hallway, from the song.

It dawned on me that in most offices, there’s someone who is always there, who is essentially part of the furniture. That person who no one truly gets to know due to being wrapped up in their own lives, with a different set of priorities. Sometimes it can be a person who has suffered a loss, but after a while those around don’t want to hear about their heartache anymore and so begin to avoid or ignore them. It’s a sad side of human nature. And, I asked myself:

What happens to a person like that when they go home to an empty house; when they know no one cares? Do they grieve for themselves, the person lost or both?

What would happen if someone cared enough to notice and get involved?

What would happen with a little kindness?

Sleepwalking

excerpt

Matthew almost looked like a ghost, too—he was thin and gaunt. The trousers of his grey suit were held up by a belt that, judging by the markings, had been tightened several holes—so, it must have fit him properly at some time. Other than that, he kept clean-shaven. As for his dark brown hair… it had been cut and cut well, because it didn’t seem to matter how many times his fingers ran through it, it looked fantastic.

Yes, I’d studied him quite a lot since I started. I’d noticed him on my first day, and every day since. There was something about him that drew me to him, and yet he’d never looked at me even once—it was as if he were off in his own world, and a sad one at that. I’d never seen him smile, and I felt nothing other than sadness emanate from him whenever I passed by his desk. I didn’t even know the color of his eyes, as they were always buried in a file, or watching the floor whenever he ventured elsewhere in the office. His thick rimmed glasses stopped me getting a sideways peek at them, too. The wide arms hid anything that might expose them to me.

The only thing that elicited any kind of positive emotion from him was his coffee—frothy cappuccino with two sugars. Relief washed over his whole body and downcast face with his first sip, which was usually followed by the back of his hand swiping the foam away from his upper lip.

Yes, I was so intrigued with the man that I knew how he took his coffee. A little stalkerish, I know, but there was just… something.

FOR a few days, I’d noticed a change. If it were possible, he was even more withdrawn than usual, yet no one in the office said a thing, or even seemed to care what was happening with him.

I decided to do something about it.

DIY Delights

DIY cover

While renovating his first house with his partner, Mike, Duncan discovers a plethora of reasons to use his favourite word… Bollocks!

DIY Delights

excerpt

Needless to say, once the day came when my life partner, Mike, and I bought our house, no one was surprised when it turned out to be in need of a little TLC. In fact, if it was a trauma patient, it would have been taken immediately to intensive care.

That was when the “Holy fuck, what have you taken on?” version of the word bollocks was used.

The wiring was old. The electric heater was there to cover the hole from an open fire, and the bathroom was a disaster waiting to happen. Walls were covered in fading flock paper, and the banister looked as though it had been leaned on a few too many times. As far as carpets went… ughhh. That was when I found another way to use the word—in disgust. Things were living in the crumbled rubber backing.

The poor dwelling was in a shocking state, considering it was only built in the sixties.

It had its good points, though. The damp course and walls weren’t in bad condition. Only a few parts needed rendering. No roof tiles were missing, and neither squirrel nor bat had taken up residence in the loft. Structurally, the place was sound. All it needed was the home improvement equivalent of some Botox and a serious facelift.

Our house was a little two-story, two-bedroomed cottage on the outskirts of Evesham—a town around a third of the way to Bristol from Birmingham. The town itself wasn’t small, and continued to expand into the surrounding farmland. It’s an area well known for its fruits and vegetables.

Due to the cottage’s dilapidated condition, and lack of sleeping accommodation, we purchased the property for an exceptional price. Beautifully, both of us could see its potential. The electricity source at ground level was up to standard, and so was the basic plumbing. The convenient thing was we had a caravan to stay in while we completed repairs.

We loved the cottage. The first thing we did was give it a name—Gayden.

about_the_author

Taylin Clavelli lives in the United Kingdom, about 15 miles south of Birmingham, and a short journey from the world famous Cadbury’s Chocolate factory. She’s married with children and loves her family with all her heart.

Her love of books has been a long standing affair, with Taylin liking nothing better than to lose herself in an imaginary world.

Until she met Lily Velden, she never considered trying her hand at writing. However, after talking ideas, Lily encouraged her to put pen to paper—or rather, fingers to keyboard. Since, with a few virtual kicks in the right place, she hasn’t stopped. Her confidence eventually led to her writing an original work for submission.

Her first published work was Boys, Toys, and Carpet Fitters, developed for the Dreamspinner Press Anthology – Don’t Try This At Home.

Now she absolutely adores immersing herself into the characters she creates, and transferring the pictures in her brain to paper, finding it liberating, therapeutic, and wonderful.

Outside of writing, her interests include; martial arts (she’s a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Taekwon-do), horse-riding, all of which facilitates her love of a wide variety of movies. Her action heroes include Jet Li and Tony Jaa—finding the dedication these men have for their art combined with their skill both amazing and a privilege to watch. If pressed, she’ll admit to thinking that the screen entrance of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean – Curse of the Black Pearl, and Shadowfax in LOTR, to be the greatest screen entrances ever. Her all-time favorite movies are Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.

The simple things in life that make her day, putting a smile on her face are:

Laughter – especially that of her children.

The smell of lasagna cooking – it makes her mouth salivate.

The dawn chorus – no symphony ever written can beat the waking greetings of the birds.

David

RULE # 1

KNOW YOUR PREY

I RECOGNIZED his type the moment he first approached me—a typical love-’em-and-leave-’em. His kind swoops in, sweeps you off your feet, fucks you stupid, and before you’ve even had time to gather your wits, they’ve pulled up their pants and zipped their flies at the same time as they rush toward the nearest exit.

Now, don’t get me wrong—I have no problem with being fucked stupid. Rather like swapping roles, actually, when it’s the right guy. The right guy being older and more experienced, just like this guy is—but I want to be memorable. I want to be more than another notch on the bed post. You want to fuck me, you’re going to have to earn the privilege, and you’re damn well going to remember it. Fuck, you’re going to want to repeat it… again and again. Whether I let you is another story….

In the interim, I’ll hunt down for myself some cute, but forgettable, little twink to fuck stupid.

Which is exactly what I’ve been doing all week…

My 5* Review:

A hot, lust-filled short story told in alternating points of view.

William, the hunter, gets to know his prey. He’s the bar owner observing a hot, young, confident, gorgeous red-head with lust and want. He’s used to luring men into his lair to ensnare them. He usually captures and has his way with them—just once–and then lets them go. He’s the love’em and leave ‘em type. For three months, with a silent communication of staring, teasing and winking, he enjoys chasing David. He feels it will make the kill even more satisfying when he eventually captures his prey.

The trouble is David also thinks he’s the hunter.  Younger and less experienced, but even so, he’s aware of what William is up to. David wants to be more than a one-night stand. He’s attracted to the older and deliciously fit barman. He wants him to beg for it! And he wants their experience together to be memorable.

Both men think they are in control. They want the other man to be desperate for them. They flirt and torment, hoping the other will finally submit. But who is the hunter and who is hunted in the end?

A highly recommended read. I loved seeing the story unfold through both character’s point of view.

About the author:

Lily Velden lives on the east coast of Australia, her family having emigrated from Holland when she was a child.

She’s both a left and right brain person, holding qualifications in both Finance and Fine Arts. She tells her friends that her way with numbers will make her a profitable artist and writer… one day.

Lily has always had a love of language and a beautifully crafted sentence, and admits to having a fetish for collecting quotes, poems, and song lyrics. What she won’t admit to is how many notebooks she’s filled with those quotes… Her fascination carries on into her artworks where she often incorporates text. When a shoulder injury slowed down her art practice she decided to explore her love of the written word more fully and began writing. “I’ll paint my pictures with words.”

Not that she’s abandoned artmaking in its entirety—Lily collaborates on the designs for all her book covers.

There are many things Lily loves, here are just a few of the PG rated ones: a good laugh (all the better if caused by a naughty joke), the smell of freshly baked goods and mown grass, a smile from a stranger, rainbows after the rain, and witnessing a promise kept.

LILY G. BLUNT

Terry visits a men’s designer boutique, and Ash gives him service with a smile…

Excerpt:

TERRY caught sight of his reflection in the shop window and smoothed down his wind-blown hair. He glanced up and down, slowly checking over his appearance. A smile grazed his mouth. Pleased he’d chosen a tight-fitting white T-shirt to exhibit his firm torso, his dark eyes shifted to the clothing displayed on the other side of the glass. A pale blue shirt instantly caught his eye, as did a cream-colored shirt with a dusky paisley print. He knew both would suit his tanned complexion.
Terry could certainly do with a new shirt for the party later that evening, but that wasn’t the reason he was standing in front of the designer boutique. A flutter of excitement rippled through his belly and down to his groin, making his cock throb in anticipation. It wasn’t the clothing that had this effect upon him, but the thought of a particular sales assistant inside the shop.
It was late on Saturday afternoon, and the shop would be closing within the next half hour. He didn’t have much time to make his move. Terry hoped he’d timed his entrance just right. Peering beyond the male mannequins poised in the window, he searched out his intended target.

Terry noticed two men about to leave so he moved toward the door.  As it opened, an old-fashioned bell jangled overhead and the two men left the premises. They offered him a genuine smile. One of them winked at Terry, who returned the gesture. Terry watched them head down the street, walking hand in hand, for a few seconds before crossing over the threshold. A smile spread across his handsome face because he now knew only one member of staff remained to man the shop until it closed at half past five. The one guy he wanted the chance to be alone with. The one guy he lusted after. Ash.

Interview with Taylin Clavelli

I’d like to welcome friend and fellow Wayward Ink Publishing author, Taylin Clavelli.

10390362_264930127024803_537433344531800810_n

Thank you for having me, it’s amazing to be here.

My pleasure, Taylin. Thank you for sharing a little about yourself.

The prized possession you value above all others…

That would have to be my photo albums as they give a jump start to memories of people, places and events, many of which a person forgets over time. The photos are the physical possession, the memories they invoke are the prized possession.

The unqualified regret you wish you could amend…

Hell, I’m far from perfect and have many regrets I wish I could amend. Too many to list them all and some have a bigger impact on my life than others. However, the one thing from primary school that still comes to mind, is during the days when animals were allowed in the classroom. I was an accident prone child and some baby chickens hatched and were being kept under heated lamp. While cuddling the chicks I managed to knock over the lamp and it broke. All the chicks were fine and all lived for a long time. But, I had to stay and give them warmth while the unhappy teacher replaced the lamp. I got a ton of stick from the other kids at the time and I regretted possibly causing the chickens any pain, and I regretted being clumsy. The whole thing scared the shit out of me cos, kids being kids, said I nearly killed the chicks and that had a big impact on me.

The temptation you wish you could resist…

Ohhhh, a loaded question. I’d put your readers to sleep if I listed them all, there is not one. I’ve been on the earth too long to have just one.

The book that holds everlasting resonance…

My Family and Other Animals, by Gerald Durrell. It is a book about the life of the conservationist Gerald Durrell. His antics and observations while growing up in Corfu. I absolutely adored the love the man had for animals. That love continued into adulthood where he founded the Durrell wildlife park in Jersey, which helps save species from extinction.

http://www.durrell.org/wildlife-park/

I’ve never had the chance to visit, but would love to go there one day.

The priority activity if you were invisible for a day…

It would depend on where I was in the world when given the chance to be invisible. So many possibilities. Putting my finger on one, it would be to be to sneak onto the set of The Hobbit.

The film you can watch time and time again…

Oh easy, Star Wars. Despite being a lover of LOTR and The Hobbit, Star Wars I have grown up with and have literally watched it time and time again.

The person who influenced you the most…

My husband. When growing up you experience the will of your parents and peers. When I met my husband and all through our marriage, he has encouraged me to be my own person and to do what makes me happy. He questions me and makes me think outside the box, too. He’s a wonderful man.

The unlikely interest that engages your curiosity…

Martial arts, it engages more than my curiosity, I am a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo.

The poem that touches your soul…

‘Twas The Night Before Christmas by Clement Clarke Moore. I love the imagery of the poem, and there is something special in the air when you are outside on a cold winters evening and the snow is falling.

The event that altered the course of your life…

Getting made redundant. It set my life on a different course and during those months I moved from being a reader to having the time to become a writer.

The song that means the most to you…

No one song can be named. Many songs out there touch me and make me stop what I am doing to listen to them. A huge portion have different meanings to me and invoke a range of thoughts. Knights in White Satin by the Moody Blues, In The Air Tonight by Phil Collins. Adam Lambert’s Trespassing. Pheonix by Fall Out Boy.

The happiest moment you will cherish forever…

The birth of my children.

The unfulfilled ambition that continues to haunt you…

Of course, Jersey, but on the whole, world travel. I’ve gone to many places, but there are soooo many still to visit. Being a LOTR and Hobbit fan New Zealand is high on the list, as is Brazil and Hawaii. I love the scenery in NZ, fell in love with it years ago. As for Brazil – I love how alive the place is.

Your early recollections of writing fiction…

Red, lots of red. Pages of red. Most of it saying, paint a picture with your words, pointing out my habits and literary no no’s. Oh and the differences between English/English and American/English. That and sitting before a blank screen with an idea in my head thinking, oh shit, where do I start?

The way you would spend your fantasy 24 hours, with no travel restrictions…

I’m also taking a Star Trek attitude here and believing I have portable beaming capacity, a universal translator, and the ability to breathe anywhere. Not going near time travel.

In that case, I would start off in Jersey, before a whistle stop tour of Australia and New Zealand. Then I’d dive onto a reef in the sea – don’t care which one. Then spend a huge chunk of time in Egypt at the Cairo Museum, The Pyramids, Valley of the Kings, Abydos, Karnak, Alexandria, Abu Simbel, Philae. I’d then beam out to the moon so that I could see the earth and stars clearly with my own eyes and not through glass. I’d finish the day at Disney EPCOT with a trip around the Geosphere and firework display.

The pet hate that makes your hackles rise…

When people as you a question then don’t stick around to hear the answer.

The figure from history you would most like to buy a pie and a pint…

Rameses The Great. I saw his mummy at the Cairo Museum. For me, there was still a presence about him that spanned time. It was enough to make me query life after death.

The piece of wisdom you would pass onto a child…

While it is admirable to want to change the world, learn how it works before you get in and make the changes.

The treasured item you lost and wish you could have again…

Nothing physical comes to mind. But I would love to regain the magic of Christmas, and the innocence of still believing in Santa.

The crime you would commit knowing you could get away with it…

Castrate child abusers.

The philosophy that underpins your life…

Let people be who they were meant to be, love who they want to love, and live the life that is right for them – without judgement. A person can have their own thoughts and beliefs, but they shouldn’t be forced onto another unless willing to engage in discussion and hear an alternative point of view. More to the point understand there is more than one point of view and it’s okay.

Please be aware that I am female, therefore all these answers could be different next week. J

Interview with E. S. Skipper

Today, I’d like to welcome author and close friend, E. S. Skipper.

His first short story, ‘No Worries, Mate’, has recently been published in Wayward Ink Publishings Bollocks! anthology.

Congratulations on a fabulous story and for the wonderful reviews you’ve received so far. It was a pleasure to work alongside you as your boys came to life on the screen. I’m glad I helped steer you in the right direction with their story and was there to support you every step of the way on your route to publishing.

Oma’s interview at E.S. Skipper’s Bollocks! Release Day Party on Facebook.

Can you tell me how you came to want to write?

I started reading fanfiction a while back and I enjoyed it a lot. There were many great stories out there, but also some really bad ones that were getting heaps of reviews. The authors hadn’t even studied the subject properly. And yes, it is fiction, but some of these people were moving into dangerous topics. People could have gotten hurt if they thought it was all right to try things they were reading. So after moaning at my friend, he said he had enough of my complaining and told me to put up or shut up. So I put up.

My stories can be found on fanfiction as Emmett’s Submissive

When you create your characters do they come strictly from your imagination, people you know in real life, or a mix?

Oh, so not a fair question. Without realising it, I tend to see people I know in my characters. Although my novel I am trying to write at the moment is about two very close friends. I have used them as inspiration. They are whom I imagine in my head when I write. But other than that, they are nothing like the characters and they have become unique in a way but still hold the characteristics of my friends. They love it, so I am happy about that.

I’ve had the privilege to watch you write. It’s amazing how your process works. How do you develop your writing ideas?

Okay, you’re making me give the secret away. Actually, I have none. I sit down and write. I don’t think my characters talk to me. I don’t pause or make changes until the chapter is done normally. Take Rangi and Jake from ‘No Worries, Mate’. A friend on Facebook said something so small, but made it click in my head. Yep, she had visited New Zealand and commented on how laid back and nothing was a bother. As you know, I say No Worries all the time. It’s a common New Zealand, and yes, I have to admit, Australian saying. So out of her simple comment ‘No Worries, Mate’ was born.

You’ve recently been accepted by Wayward Ink Publishing for an original story. How did you feel once you’d submitted?

Oh, you are so freaking mean. You know how I felt. Scared, worried, regretful, but mainly proud I had actually taken that step. But I wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for my amazing beta and friend Lily G. Blunt aka Bob Loving. She is my mentor and held my hand every step of the way. When I say that I seriously mean she held my hand. Hell, she even set the document up. I basically typed the story and handed it to her. She did the rest. You have seen my writing. I never go back and edit. Oh wait, I do now. *Blushing here. Thanks, hun*

What was your reaction when you learned you had been accepted?

I am not ashamed to say I cried. I was never a scholar at school. Basically told I was a no-hoper. Well, I can’t wait for a school reunion now and go and say, well guess you were wrong. Don’t give up on a dream. Hell, writing was never my dream, but now it is a passion.

Tell me about the publishing process; what you enjoyed most, and liked least.

It’s horrible! It honestly is hard. You have to go through so much. But an author is just a slice in the whole process. EDITS are the bane of my life. I hate them. Normally you go through two edits. I HAD four! As you know, I am new at this game. I handed over a story but got told that in a few places I was telling rather than showing. Thankfully Wayward Ink Publishing saw something in me. I had to fix it after the first submission before it went to the next partner in the business. Then it had to go to my first editor. I ADORE her and can’t thank her enough. But guess what? I didn’t gel with my next one. I didn’t mind her, but her style was not to my liking. She is brilliant at her job, but she didn’t get me as a writer. And best part? I have yet to find one. Although holding your book in your hand is incredible and it makes it all seem worthwhile.

Do you have any plans to publish again?

*hangs head* Yes, as much as I moan about it, I can’t not do it again! Although this time I will be better prepared.

Do you have other stories in the works?

Yep! That is all I am saying at this moment in time. I don’t know what I will be finishing or submitting next.

Name the five biggest distractions from your writing.

Real life.

Family

Facebook (worse one) – Sorry, I know I contribute to this distraction for hours at a time, but we have fun in between the hours of work, don’t we!

Helping others trying to write

Travelling

Where do you hope to see your writing career, say, ten years from now?

Honestly, I can’t think that far ahead. I hope I’m an established author. Or maybe, I give it up and try my hand at other interests I have. All I know is that I have a lot in my head and these buggers won’t keep quiet.

Excerpt

Jake Bullock stared in embarrassed horror at the sign BOLLOCKS being held aloft by a tall man with skin the color of a good café latte—something Jake felt in dire need of. People sniggered as they walked past the placard held so high and so proudly in the air it looked positively jaunty. After traveling for God knows how many hours, the last thing Jake had was a sense of humor.

Walking over to the man, Jake looked up. “Are you from the Department of Conservation?”

“Yep, Kia ora, mate. Welcome to Aotearoa—land of the long white cloud.” The guy grinned, showing perfectly straight white teeth.

“I thought I was in New Zealand.” Jake looked around. He saw flags and silver ferns, just as he’d expected.

“This is New Zealand—but it’s also known as Aotearoa. My name is Rangi Hapakuku. You must be Jake Bollock.” He finally put the sign down and held his large hand out.

Accepting the hand, Jake jerked back when the guy drew close to his face. Rangi tapped his nose to Jake’s once, then paused for a split second before he went in again. Jake could feel heat rising on his cheeks. He should have remembered this was a customary greeting. Holding his breath, he rubbed noses with the man. It only lasted a few seconds, and Jake had to admit it wasn’t as intrusive as he thought it would be. Rangi peered behind Jake, as though looking for something.

“Oh, my travel partner couldn’t make it. She contracted chicken pox from her granddaughter,” Jake said, thinking it was the reason why the sign had an ‘s’ tagged on the end. “I’m Jake Bullock. That’s Bull…ock. Not Bollock!”

“Well, no worries, mate. It’s better there’s only the two of us. You have been given a great honor to visit our island.” He started to take the camera off Jake’s shoulder.

“Please, I’ll carry it.” Jake grabbed hold of the straps and held tightly onto his camera, his livelihood. Hell, truth be told, it was like an extension of his arm. Rangi might as well have asked him to detach his hand.

“No worries, mate! We best get a move on if we want to make it to the island before dark.”

Guest Author – H Lewis-Foster

A warm welcome to fellow author and new friend courtesy of Wayward Ink Publishing and the UK Meet,

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF, H.

The temptation you wish you could resist…

I know it’s a predictable answer, but it has to be chocolate, in any form. Cake, biscuits, anything – if it’s in the house, I’m afraid I’ll eat it!

The book that holds everlasting resonance…

The most significant book for me is The Married Man by Edmund White. It was the first book I read by and about a gay man, and it made a huge impression on me. It’s a beautifully written story of love and loss, and I’m sure if I hadn’t read it, I wouldn’t be where I am now.

The film you can watch time and time again…

That would have to be the British film Weekend. It has no big stars or special effects, but the script and performances are fantastic. As the title suggests, it tells the story of two men who meet and fall in love over the course of a weekend. It’s a wonderfully simple film full of honesty and emotion.

The poem that touches your soul…

The poem which I find the most touching is one I first read when I was a teenager. It’s a French poem (with an English title) called Paris at Night by Jacques Prévert. It’s a very short piece with no flowery words or complex structures. A simple statement of love, it still takes my breath away when I read it.

The figure from history you would most like to buy a pie and a pint…

Weird as it may sound, I think I’d go down the pub with Alexander the Great. I’ve just read the first two books in Mary Renault’s trilogy about his life, and he sounds like a fascinating character, full of astonishing confidence one minute and vulnerability the next. It sounds like he knew how to have a great party too, so I’m sure he’d be good company. And of course he wasn’t afraid to show his love for the men in his life.

So now you know a bit about me, here’s a little about my two new releases.

Lawyer Adam Sibden has moved to the charming English village of Sharpley to forget about men. But when he takes his car to the local garage, he can’t help being attracted to the handsome young manager Jim Turley. At the village pub that evening, a misunderstanding leads to a highly embarrassing moment for Adam, but Jim thankfully comes to his rescue and makes him feel more at ease.

As the winter weather takes hold, Adam finds himself stranded with a punctured tyre, following a disastrous meeting with his ex-boyfriend Lucas. Adam calls the garage’s breakdown service, and when Jim ventures into the snow to find him, he offers more help than Adam could have hoped for.

Simon has a good job and a nice house, and according to his best friend Chris, he’s turning into a boring old fart. So it’s totally out of character when Simon bares his bum to the local constabulary on a night out with his brother’s student mates. He hopes he’s put the incident behind him, when Simon bumps into one of the officers. Simon fears he’s in trouble, then thinks he’s in luck when PC Mark Timmis buys him a drink – but life in a rural English town is never as simple as it seems.

Author Bio

H. Lewis-Foster has always worked with books, in one form or another. As a keen reader of gay fiction, she decided to try writing herself, and is now the proud author of several short stories and a debut novel.

H. has lived in various parts of the UK and has recently moved to the north of England, where she’s enjoying city life, especially the theatres and cinemas. She tries not to watch too much television, but is a big fan of Downton Abbey, and while she’s writing, she loves listening to Test Match Special (where they spend far more time talking about cakes than cricket!)

H. has also ventured into playwriting and was thrilled to see her first play performed at the Southend Playwriting Festival earlier this year.
