It’s wonderful to see my stories in print …

My guest post on N. Wood’s Blog

Boys On Film by Lily G. Blunt

It’s wonderful to have Lily G. Blunt visiting my blog today to talk a little about herself and her new book, Boys On Film.
Firstly, tell us five things about yourself.
1. I live in the UK
2. I make gay-themed videos and post them on my YouTube, Vimeo and DailyMotion channels as Bob Loving (BoyonBoyloving)
3. My family think I’m crazy
4. I’ve got a weird sense of humour
5. I’m a shy and quiet person … honestly, especially in a crowd of people
When did you decide you wanted to be an author?
I’m still deciding! I’ve been writing for three years, publishing fanfiction, and more recently, my own work on Kindle and in paperback. I still don’t consider myself an author, not really!
How did you choose to write the genre you do and are there any genres that you would like to write some day?
I came to m/m through slash fanfiction. There’s something hot yet so beautiful in an emerging m/m relationship. I plan to continue writing m/m romance and erotica for the foreseeable future. As a former teacher, I would like to write a children’s book, and also one my family could read without me blushing. So who knows, one day I might try something new.
Tell us about your writing technique. Do you plan out every chapter detail beforehand or write as you go? Is there a particular environment and situation that helps to aid your writing?
Each story varies. Sometimes I get an idea for a short story and write the main ideas down in a day or two. Other times, I have an outline plan for each section of a story. I often call this my coat hanger planning as each paragraph or section of the story hangs on an idea or phrase. I often write notes in a notebook and add to them when an idea comes to mind. Other times, I write a plan on my computer and basically fill in the gaps! Sometimes, I picture a scene or conversation and build a whole story around that. I also have a folder with various ‘plot bunnies’, which I add thoughts and ideas to occasionally. I usually write in my lounge or my conservatory, sitting on a sofa. I hardly ever sit in my study. Sometimes I need silence. Other times, I can shut out all distractions and carry on totally focused.
How many books have you written?
‘Happy Anniversary, Jasper’, ‘You Can’t Stop Loving Someone Just Like That’ and ‘A Darker Shade of Oxford Blue’. These books all started life as fanfiction, but have since been edited and hopefully improved! My latest book, ‘Boys on Film’, is my own fiction. All are available on Kindle and in paperback.
What is this particular book about?
A would-be m/m author of gay erotica meets a gay porn star who claims to be straight, and they fall in love!
Do you have a favourite character and scene from this book?
I fell in love with the main characters, Stefan and Nate, and love every scene they are in together … sorry can’t pick just one!
How did you come up with the idea for this book?
I think it was a combination of a daydream and the idea of writing a series of books based around the models from a porn studio. I have other stories outlined, but I’m not sure if I’ll ever write them.
What would your dream car be? Make, model, colour, extras.
Ever since I first watched Eclipse I’ve wanted a black Volvo XC60, even though hubs says they are a pile of poop!
What would your dream job be and why?
I think I have it really … pretending to be an author. I just wish I could be more focused and produce books at a faster rate. I get too distracted by reading m/m stories, Facebook, tumblr, YouTube, and more recently twitter. Not forgetting the hour or two of boy porn I watch most days…
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I would love to live in a house overlooking the sea, somewhere warm but not too hot. The idea of daily walks along a quiet beach is appealing.
If you were given the chance to learn a new language, which would it be and why?
I studied French for seven years at school and failed dismally at it. I would rather learn to play the piano or guitar, although I can’t read music, or learn to sing properly.
If you could only eat one meal and drink one beverage for the rest of your life, what would they be?
A roast chicken dinner with a wide variety of vegetables and my drink would have to be water.
What would happen if a gay porn star fell in love with a writer of erotic m/m novels?
Set in an opulent house in San Diego that also serves as a porn studio, the story follows Stefan as he falls in love with Nate, a budding author from England, and in the process comes out as gay. Despite working in a gay porn studio and having sex with his best buddy on a regular basis, Stefan outwardly claims to be straight, although he enjoys the sex and substantial pay from his gay videos. This changes when he meets Nate, who has been given the opportunity to observe the inner workings of Blue House Film Studios to add realism to his latest erotic novel.
“What do you think of this guy, Stefan?” my colleague asks, pointing to his computer screen, his eyes lighting up with excitement.
Dragging myself out of my daydream, I get up and walk over to his desk. I merely give the photographs a quick glance because I know if Elliot is asking my opinion on something, he’s made up his mind anyway. He likes to give the impression of seeking our approval. Despite being my boss, he has become a good friend, so he deserves my honesty. “He’s good-looking with a great body.” I confirm what he already knows. “How old is he? He doesn’t even look eighteen.”
Elliot huffs in frustration and scrolls down to find the guy’s details which no doubt he’s read a couple of times. “He’s nineteen, says he’s done stuff with guys and girls, and he’s into break-dancing. Now that would make a great introduction to his solo jerk-off video, don’t you think?”
“Give him a call, Elliot,” Dan pipes up from over the top of his monitor. He also knows Elliot has made his decision. “He sounds like an ideal new recruit.”
“I think I will.” Elliot beams at us both as he picks up the phone and punches in the number. “He lives close to San Diego, so we could get him over here pretty soon if he’s really interested in joining us.”
I fix myself another cup of coffee before making my way back to my desk. Trying to ignore Elliot’s conversation with this possible “newbie,” as well as the sound of laughter coming from the pool outside, I focus on my post, which needs to be completed today for our porn studio’s blog. I’m trying to write an article on the pleasures of rimming, but I’m struggling to find the right words. I love the sensation of being rimmed, so I don’t know why I’m finding the writing so difficult. I throw Dan another look and see he is busily typing away on his piece about our recent trip to Vegas and the hot videos we made there. I take a sip of coffee before making a determined effort to concentrate and knuckle down.
Lily G Blunt:

“The idea behind this book intrigued me from the start. I’m sure it’s a dream of many m/m authors – to visit and observe a porn studio. And to fall in love with one of its stars … heaven.

Loved the main characters, Stefan and Nate. They were believably hot guys who fall in love, but as in most books and in real life, nothing ever turns out as you expect. Loved the thought-provoking theme dealt within this book. The supporting characters were great too. Dan, Cade and Elliot all had their role to play in the story. And Karl – poor Karl, my heart hurt for him at times, although I wanted to punch him at first, but I’m glad there’s a hint of something more for him in the future.

As I read this book, Corbin Fisher kept springing to mind – Lily describes it just how I imagine it to be. I know Blue House Studios is a fictional company, but I kept picturing some of those gorgeous CF boys in action. The boys on film …

That brings me to the sex scenes – and how wonderfully they were written. The porn scenes were just that – hot sex and functional. The love making scenes with Stefan and Nate were hot yet were written with feeling and showed the depth of emotions developing between these two men as they fell in love. Fabulous!

So overall a great read … I couldn’t put it down! Lily has a wonderful writing style and author voice. I love all of her books and highly recommend them.”
